Robert Enke was a German football goalkeeper. Enke was born in Jena (East Germany). He started his career with his hometown club Carl Zeiss Jena in 1995. In 1996 he was tranferred to Borussia Monchengladbach. In 1999 his international career started when he signed a contract with Benfica Portugal. In 2002 he accepted the offer of the Spanish giant club Barcelona. After that he played for Fenerbahce and Tenerife. In 2004 he returned to Germany and joined the club Hannover 96. He made great success in this club and was voted the best goalkeeper in the German league two times. The last yaers of his life Robert Enke suffered from a depression after his daughter Lara died due to a heart defect. He committed suicide.
