Funeral Rites
Held For
Cecil W. Cox
Funeral services for Cecil Wilchar Cox were held Friday at the Missionary Baptist Church in Junction City at 3 p.m. Rev Charles Kay, pastor of the church, Rev. Joe Hendricks, a former pastor of the church, now of Emory University in Atlanta and Dr. B.E. Donehoo, a former pastor of the church and now retired at Montezuma, officiated. Internment was in the city cemetery.
Mr. Cox died Thursday about 5:15 at his home on Junction City after five weeks of illness.
Born August 16,1904, Mr. Cox was son of Homer W. Cox Sr. and the late Mrs. Annie Bell Wilchar Cox of Taylor County. He had resided in Junction City 36 years and had been Postmaster 33 of those years. He was a deacon on the Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marie Fielder Cox of Junction City; his father, Homer W. Cox Sr.; one brother, Homer W. Cox, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Maesal Cox Childres and three nephews, Wayne, Danny, and Wesley Cox, all of Butler. He was also survived by a number of uncles and aunts.
Pallbearers were Harvey Buckner, Ira Craft, Brooks McDaniel, Leonard Morgan, Jr., Henry Cosby, and G.C. Stuckey.
