W. R. BLYTHE married 16 FEB 1890 in Chattahoochee County, Georgia, to Mattie FIELD (LDS online database) - her memorial is #76529677.

The years of birth and death you have posted do match those reported in the 1981 survey listing (under compiled Elsie W. HIGHT) and may very well be the dates that appear on the grave monument. However, the 1900 census shows him born February 1855 in Georgia, and I believe his correct year of death is 1922, per the following:

"DEATHS and FUNERALS...WILLIAM R. BLYTHE. // William Robert BLYTHE, 69, years old, died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed. LAYFIELD, Tenth avenue and Third street, Girard [Russell County, Alabama], several months after suffering a stroke of paralysis. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. LAYFIELD, and three sons, W. A. BLYTHE, R. P. and E. A. BLYTHE, all of Junction City [Talbot County], Georgia. Mr. BLYTHE was a member of the Baptist church, and leaves a large number of friends. The remains left here at noon today for Box Springs, where funeral and burial were to follow this afternoon." [Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun newspaper, Thursday, 26 OCT 1922, p. 8.]

Per Alabama Death Index: William Robert BYTHE died 25 OCT 1922 in Russell County, Alabama, Volume 47, Roll 2, p. 23061.

W. R. is reportedly the son of Mathew J. & Sarah (UNKNOWN) BLYTHE. The 1900 census of Pine Knot Precinct in Chattahoochee County, Georgia, reports that W. R. was a builder of coffins and was farming a farm he owned free of mortgage.

Evidently the daughter and son-in-law (per R. L. Polk's 1923 city directory for Columbus and Bibb City, Ga., p. 641: LAYFIELD, Edward (wife Clyde), machine hand at National Show Case Company, homeowner at 911 Third Street, Girard.
