Novice Lillian Sullivan Anderson Thomas was born to Charlie Lee and Julia Ann Allen Sullivan in Canton, Texas on December 6, 1912. She was the second of five children born to this union. Novice much preferred to be called Lillian.

After the family moved from The Free State, they arrived in Dallas and settled down. In 1931 at the age of 19, she married 21 year old Clarence Edward Anderson. Later that same year, they had a beautiful daughter. Due to complications of birth, Lillian and Clarence were to have no more children. During her recuperation from the birth and following surgery, her young sister Oleta cared for her newborn while her mother and father stayed by her bedside at the hospital.

She became widowed following the tragic death of the love of her life in March of 1936. She grieved for him tremendously.

Later years saw her married to Luther B. Thomas. She was in the process of opening and stocking her hopefully productive second hand shop. She suffered a fatal coronary thrombosis at her home while drinking a glass of buttermilk. She was alone at the time, and found later by Luther. She was survived by her husband Luther B. Thomas, her daughter, two granddaughters, and one grandson.
