Lucas Neal Becenti was born on December 18, 1948.
Lucas passed away on December 4, 2013, two weeks shy of his 65th birthday.
Lucas was a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1958.
Lucas was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Edith Becenti and sister, Georgene.
Lucas is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kathleen "Kay", his daughter, June Salas and her husband, Robert, grandchildren, PFC Jacob Salas USMC, twins, Rachel and Joseph Salas, brothers, Michael, Roberson and his wife, Frances, Nadine Tsabetsaye and her husband, Gary and nieces and nephews.
Lucas was a graduate of Sandia High School in 1966.
After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1967. In April of 1968 he was wounded in the Vietnam War. Lucas was medically retired in October of 1968 as a Lance Corporal. Lucas received the Bronze Star with Combat V, the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and the Good Conduct Medal.
Lucas was a graduate of the University of Albuquerque in 1983, with a bachelor's in fine arts.
Lucas was an avid drag racer of his 1970 Misjudged GTO. Where he won several championships. Lucas also loved fishing and spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held on December 10, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services Wyoming Chapel, Albuquerque, NM. The Funeral Service will be on December 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services and the burial will follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given in Lucas's honor to Vietnam Veterans of America or The Wounded Warrior Project.
