Lieut. Nguyen graduated from Political Warfare (POLWAR) College in 1969 in Dalat, Vietnam. He served in the armed forces of South Vietnam.
From 1971-72 he was sent to US to get training for Civil Affairs and Political Science at US Army Special Warfare School and Center, Ft Bragg, North Carolina.
Came back home he continued to serve in Military Second Corps tactical Zone.
He was MIA and a POW from 1972-74, the communist captured him during the combat and kept him in the jungle in borders of Campuchia, Laos and Vietnam.
In 1974 he was released by communist based on the Paris Peace Accords Agreement.
He escaped by boat from Vietnam in 1980 and lived in Chicago, Ill. and then California. He worked as a Electronic Technician for Nashua Computer Products until his death 1994. His younger brother also was MIA in 1973, his body was never been found.
Lieut. Nguyen was a devout Catholic and was a former of CSsR Seminarian.
He was generous and very friendly as he was kind and helpful never failing to care and support to those in need. He always followed Our Lord's teaching in the relationships with one another.
He also was a loving husband and caring father. He is survived by his wife and four children.
"Grant him, O Lord, eternal rest and may Thy perpetual light shine upon him".
