The 1930 Federal Census shows that Joseph lived with his parents and Grandmother Eva Bishelany on Smith Street in Brooklyn, NY. The family later moved to 97 State Street. Joseph was the nephew of Mary Bishelany Malouf. In 1931 his paternal Grandmother and Aunt Mary passed away.
Joseph worked in many industries. In 1940 he was a machine operator in a trimmings factory. He worked as a valet on cruise ships in 1947. Later, he worked as a Supervisor for the Stock Exchange.
In the late 1940s-early 1950s he married Rita Errico of Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, N.Y. Rita was the daughter of Vincenzo and Elisa (nee Scotti) Errico.
Rita and Joseph later moved to Florida where they continued to live. Joseph passed away while at the Ft. Lauderdale Health & Rehab Center. Services were held at Kraeer Funeral Home in Pompano Beach followed by interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY.
Rita's cousin, Sabbatino Serrapede, remembers Joe as a very kind person who always had a smile for you when you met him.
