U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the Ohio University School, in 1901, from Harvard University, in 1905 and was employed in the steel industry in Cleveland, Ohio, (1905-17). During World War I, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve Corps, detailed first to the War Industries Board, was an aide to the Assistant Secretary of War and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on the staff of the 101st Division, as Assistant Chief of Staff. After the war, he engaged in raising breeding cattle, was a member of the Ohio Lyndhurst Village Council, (1918-21) and served in the Ohio State Senate, (1923-28). In 1929, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-first Congress and to the three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1937. He then resumed his former business pursuits was elected to the Seventy-sixth Congress, in 1939 and served until his death at age 57. He was also husband of Congresswoman Francis Bolton.
