WESTWOOD, Mass. — Kathleen Marie (nee Saxon) Crawford died peacefully in her home in Westwood, MA, on Jan. 30, 2010 surrounded by friends and family. She was 94 years old.
Born on October 30th 1915 to Harold and Kathleen Saxon in New York. She was the eldest of two children. She was predeceased by her sister, Alice in December, 1981.
In her early years, Kay worked in Alaska before moving to Cleveland where she worked at TRW Inc. for many years. On May 28th, 1978, Kay married Frederick C. Crawford, President of TRW Inc. Upon his retirement, Fred and Kay made their home in Cotuit, and Bratenahl, Ohio. They traveled extensively throughout the world.
Fred passed away in 1994 at the age of 103. After Fred's death, Kay continued their philanthropic endeavors by generously supporting higher education, environmental causes, the arts and advancements in medicine. Kay was loved for her sense of adventure, her independent spirit, and most of all her overwhelming love for life and people. Her spirit will live on through the hearts of the many lives she touched. She made the world a better place and will be sadly missed.
Kay will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Fred, at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. The service will be private.
In honor of Mrs. Crawford's philanthropic way of life, those who wish may make a donation to the charity of their choice in her memory.
