Stanley Smitherman was born in Alabama to Frances and Joe Smitherman. He was a brilliant student and graduated as valedictorian at the age of 16 from Thomas Jefferson HS. At his graduation cerermony he received so many awards that the principal made him stay on the stage because he was disrupting the other graduates because he had to get up so many times. At 17 he enlisted in the US Navy until he was honourably discharged. He attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a degree in Forensics. He worked until his passing as a mental health therapist at Creedmoor Psychiatric Hospital. In 1984 he married his wife Sharon. Stanley was my first boyfriend where I was in the sixth grade and him in the seventh. He was an extremely proud man, honest and very well loved by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing wife,Sharon, sisters,Willie B,Roslyn, and Jackie, brothers Archie,Joe and Bert,2 neices Shenita and Sheiland. Although we went our separate ways,we continued to be life-long friends, and with him serving as Godfather for my daughter Ayana Dillion. He is loved by many and will be missed.
