My Dear Auntie ~ the woman who helped raise me.

My aunt's favorite color was PINK.

Maryland and Tom Duckworth's WEDDING ANNIVERSARY is on AUGUST 29th.

Maryland was born into a large and close-knit family. She was the third of ten children born to James and May Teubner. She has left behind to mourn her, many nieces and nephews as well as numerous others, whose lives she touched with her warm and caring heart. We will forever miss you, Aunt Maryland.

Aunt Maryland was also a loving aunt to her sister Alice's five children, Johanna Paulsen, Tawny Asher, and one of their brothers, Patrick Harrington, who was lost at the tender age of nineteen in 1967 in a tragic accident. She has two surviving nephews Kevin and James Harrington, from Alice's family. She loved and treated all of them as though they were her own children.

My Aunt

I thought I saw her face today
In the sparkle of the morning sun.
And then I heard the angel say,
"Her work on earth is done."

I thought I heard her voice today
Then laugh her hearty laugh.
And then I heard the angel say,
"There's peace little one at last."

I thought I felt her touch today
In the breeze that rustled by.
And then I heard the angel say,
"The spirit never dies."

I thought that she had left me
For the stars so far above.
And then I heard the angel say,
"She left you with her love."

I thought that I would miss her
And never find my way.
And then I heard the angel say,
"She's with you every day." ~Megan Stokes

From Aunt Maryland's funeral program ~ October 3, 2015

When I must leave you for a little while,
please do not grieve and shed wild tears.
And hug your sorrow to you
through the years.
But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name,
Live on and do all things the same;
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
but fill each waking hour in useful ways,
reach out your hand in comfort
and in cheer
and I in turn will comfort you
and hold you near;
And never, never be afraid to die.
For I am waiting for you in the sky!

~Anon.
