Auffenberg, James A. Sr. James A. Auffenberg, Sr. , at the age of 88 of Clayton, Missouri. Born May 3, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri. Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Missouri Baptist Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Barbara (nee Coppedge) of sixty-one years, whom he married on April 10, 1950 and their five children; James, Jr. (Ellen) of Belleville, Illinois and their children, Claire (Preston) Foehrkalb, Matthew Auffenberg and Michael Auffenberg; Thomas (Dale) of Warson Woods, Missouri, and their children, Ryan Auffenberg (Anna Napawan, fianc×), Greg Auffenberg (Carolyn), Beth Auffenberg and David Auffenberg; Christopher (Patricia) of Town & Country, Missouri and their son, Christopher Auffenberg, Jr.; Joseph Auffenberg of Kirkwood, Missouri; and Anne Rabenberg of Richmond Heights, Missouri and her children, Maggie Rabenberg, Timothy Rabenberg and Ellie Rabenberg; his brother Robert Auffenberg, of St. Louis Missouri; his brother-in-law, James Coppedge (Dolly); sister-in-law; Josephine Auffenberg and Dee Dee Auffenberg and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Caroline Auffenberg and two brothers, Frances Auffenberg and Henry Auffenberg. Our family would like to sincerely thank Lyndon Goodrich. We will be forever grateful for her loving care and concern for our husband and father. We also wish to thank the many doctors and other caregivers. Jim was a graduate of St. Louis University High School and Washington University School of Business. He enlisted in the Navy in 1942. He was discharged in 1946 as a Lieutenant. He then entered the automotive business and later became President of Auffenberg Ford in Belleville, Illinois where he had a very long and successful career. He was a member of Immacolata Catholic Church. His passion in life was to be on the golf course. Jim served on Numerous boards including Citizen National Bank, Dismas House, Cardinal Ritter and St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, Illinois and many relating to the automobile industry. He was a member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Ford Dealers. He was a long time member of Sunset Country Club, MAC and St. Pat's Syndicate. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
