Alice (Rose) Deschamps Blair, age 81, of E. Hinds Ave., passed away peacefully Friday, March 30, 2012 with her loving family by her side in the Oneida Healthcare Center.
She was born on Jan. 3, 1931 in New London, Conn., a daughter of the late Acton and Rose (Fay) Deschamps and was a graduate of New London Central School.
Alice was a people person that enjoyed her times spent with her family and many dear friends, whether in person or on the phone. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox and N.Y. Yankees. Alice loved country music and was especially fond of Loretta Lynn. Alice raised her three children on her own and also enjoyed taking care of senior citizens in her spare time.
Surviving are her three children and spouses, Laura (Kevin) Klossner of Oneida, Sharon Sobik (Danny Hall) of Rome and Michael (Tracey) Blair of Willoughby, Ohio; her beloved grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Malcolm, Dalton, Nathan and Alex; her twin brother, Allen (Sandy) Deschamps of Macomb, Mich., brother, Acton "Sonny" Deschamps of West Palm Beach, Fla., and sister, Laura Taversa of Harwinton, Conn., also several nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her two husbands, Frank Sobik and Edward Blair, one brother, John Deschamps and sister, Yvonne Mazella.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Road, Sherrill, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home immediately following calling hours. Burial will follow in St. Helena Cemetery, Oneida, NY.
