Bernard Aungier, 86, of Lafayette, New York, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York.

Bernard was born March 23, 1919 in Syracuse, New York, the son of Edward and Julia (McManus) Aungier. He was owner of Maple Line Farms in LaFayette. He recently retired as LaFayette Tax Assessor, the longest serving Tax Assessor in Onondaga County. He was an active member of the Republican Party, a member of the Optimist Club, LaFayette Grange, LaFayette Vol. Fire Dept. and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was predeceased by his wife, Mable Schaeffer Aungier in 1996 and a son-in-law, Irving McManus in 1991.

Bernie is survived by his three daughters, Joyce McManus of Elbridge, New York, Karen (Dr. Richard) Markoff of LaFayette, New York and Mary Jo (Jerry) Kelly of LaFayette, New York; one son, Ronald (Anne) Aungier of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; one sister, Mary O'Hara of Syracuse, New York; one brother, William Aungier of Syracuse, New York; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services: Friday, January 13, 2006, 9:15 a.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 6136 Cherry Valley Turnpike, LaFayette, New York where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated.

Burial: LaFayette Rural Cemetery, Route 11, LaFayette, New York.

Calling Hours: Thursday, January 12, 2006, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., 2584 Field Lane, LaFayette, New York.
