Funeral services for Mr. Ernest L. Ashworth were held on Monday, May 2, 2011 in the Rush Chapel, Oakdale, Reverends Sherman Busby and Chuck Stevenson officiated. Interment followed in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mr. Ashworth, 79, of Oakdale entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria.

Ernest worked as an auto mechanic for many years. He was a lifelong resident of Oakdale and a member of Occupy #1 Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of seventeen years, Jean Ashworth of Pitkin; two sons – Andy Ashworth of Sicily Island and Jack Ashworth of Pitkin; one daughter – Belinda Willis of Cotile Lake; one step-son – Rodney Thompson of Pitkin; two step-daughters, Debbie Orton of Ball and Patti Doyle of Tioga; four brothers – Clement Ashworth of Centralia, Washington, Jesse "Sonny" Ashworth of Deweyville Texas, Mervin Ashworth of Angleton, Texas and Adolph Ashworth of Junction City, Arkansas and three sisters – Nancy Odom of Oakdale, Bertha Gonzales of Elizabeth and Joyce Gables of Orange, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, six step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ashworth; one son, Gary Ashworth; his parents, Jesse and Ellie Ashworth and one grandson, Kirk Allen Ashworth.

Services were under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale
