Lemuel Claudius Owens was born, the son of George W and Lillian Roberts Owens, on 6 Aug 1891. He was born, raised, and died at the family "homestead" on Gum Swamp Road in Lake City. He married Rosa Evans, daughter of Robert and Sevena (Niblack) Evans on 14 Mar 1917 in Columbia County, Florida.
He was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and later Bethel Methodist. Lem was a farmer and served on the Columbia County School Board for 26 years.Rosa a school teacher for 39 years. There were no children from this marriage.
Funeral services were held at Bethel United Methodist with interment following in the Church's Cemetery.
