Case, Evelyn (Harvey), 79, died April 14, 2015 at home in Derby, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband, Delbert Case, two children, two grandchildren and five great grandchildren: DeElla and Craig VanFleet (Wichita), Kevin Case and John Travers (Kansas City); Amy and John Salisbury and Lindsay and Ryan VanFleet (also of Kansas City) and Joselyn, Ella, Amelia, Katelyn and Daniel. Her parents Gladys and Orva Harvey, older sister Phyllis and brother Charles preceded her in death. Her two nieces, Sheila Riddle and Rita Sagstetter still reside in Ohio.
A native of Ohio where she met and married Delbert at the age of 17, he at 20, they spent more than 62 years together living in Ohio, California, Maryland, Texas and Pennsylvania, most of them in Derby which they have called home since 1965. Evelyn was an active member of the Pleasantview Baptist Church in Derby, for 50 years and celebrated 50 years with the Order of Eastern Star. When her children were still at home, she was a community leader in everything from Girl Scout Cookie Sales, to Muscular Dystrophy Telethons, Derby high school fundraisers and debate tournaments. In retirement, they traveled widely together throughout Asia, Australia and Europe and her attentions turned to helping with Keenagers and Heartland Hospice. She was a perpetual volunteer for many causes which were important to her: public libraries and breast cancer awareness.
