Leavenworth Times February 4, 1949:

Mrs. Amelia Fischer Dies
Widow of Herman Fischer was 77--Came to City As Young Woman of 20
Mrs. Amelia Fischer, 77, Twenty-first and Ohio Streets, widow of Herman A. Fischer, a resident of Leavenworth for more that 55 years, died at her residence at 7 o'clock this morning.

Mrs. Fischer has been in failing health since Thanksgiving and confined to her bed since Christmas.

She was born in Germany April 30, 1871, and came to Leavenworth in 1891, when she was 20 years old. She was married August 6, 1892, to Herman A. Fischer. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1942.

Mr. Fischer died September 23, 1942.

Surviving Mrs. Fischer are two daughters, Miss Martha Fischer, of the home, and Mrs. Thomas Farquhar, Dennison, Kas; three sons, Henry Fischer and Otto Fischer, of the home and Frank Fischer, Leavenworth; eight grandchildren seven great-grandchildren, and one brother, Fred Dage, Leavenworth.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday from the Sexton Funeral Chapel, with Rev Roy Brady, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Muncie Cemetery. The body will remain at the Sexton Funeral Chapel until the hour of services.
