James Parker Adams, Jr. 89, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. He passed away peacefully at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD. He was born on March 6, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of James Parker and Ella Mae (Copeland) Adams Sr. James served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Medic. Mr. Adams retired after 25 years of civil service as Director of the Montgomery County Child Support Enforcement Division, Dayton, Ohio. James actively served as a member of the Champion Lodge #15 and Akbar Lodge #33. He leaves to cherish in his memory 4 sons, Ronald Adams, Chicago, Illinois; Kenneth Henderson, Columbus, Ohio and Michael Adams and Bruce (Dorothy) Adams, both of Springfield, Ohio; one daughter, Sharon (Aaron) Redman of Stafford, Virginia; three grandchildren, Aaron C. and Angela Redman, and Julian Henderson; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Martin D. Adams, Chicago, Illinois; life-long friend, Augustus Mack and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. James was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Denoris, Alvin, and Thomas; three sisters, Carlene, Amelia, and Ellen; former wife, Garnetta H. Adams and a loving, special friend, Freida M. Chambers. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Dayton National Cemetery with military honors. Arrangements provided by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
