Karl Gottlieb Lange was the Lord-Mayor of Breslau from 1838-1842. He was born in Breslau and attended the Elisabet-Gymnasium in that city before studying law in Halle. In 1812 he became a city councilor. He served as a vice-mayor under Gottlieb Donatus Menzel, and succeeded Menzel as Lord Mayor in 1838.

In 1840, Lange led the Breslau delegation to the coronation of King Frederick William IV. During his term, the Breslau City Theater (today's Wrocław Opera) was constructed. In 1842, he opened a new rail line connecting Breslau to Ohlau. However, he died a few weeks later.

Lange was a recipient of the Order of the Red Eagle.
