Yancey Wyatt Ayers, Jr., age 76, of Salem, died Monday. He was predeceased by former wives, Mayola Frye Ayers and Elizabeth Smith Ayers. He is survived by one son, Yancey Wyatt Ayers, III, of Waldorf, Md.; one daughter, Betty Jean Perry of Salem; one sister, Nancy Ayers Marcum of Lexington, Ky.; four stepdaughters, Polly Johnson, Janet Viar and Pam Cromer, all of Salem; Mary Thompson of Lynchburg; one stepson, Jerry Smith of Charlotte, N.C. Funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Viar officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. John M. Oakey & Son in Salem is handling arrangements.
