Opal F. Bodanza, 90, a resident of Country Meadows, Wyomissing, passed away Thursday, January 23rd, 2014 at the Reading Hospital.
Her husband of 37 years, Sebastian Bodanza died April 22, 1988.
Born in New York City, on January 3, 1924, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Kathryn E. (Wenrich) Freeman.
She was a graduate of Reading High School and a graduate of the Helen Moore Hoffman Secretarial School.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wernersville.
Opal served as Justice of the Peace in South Heidelberg Township for 12 years. She worked as Secretary to a City Alderman for three years until the establishment of the District Justice System, at which time she was employed as a Secretary to the District Justice. From 1972 until 1976 she was Secretary to the Berks County Court Administrator and from 1982 to 1994 she served as District Justice for District Court 1-3.
She was the loving mother to sons, S. George Anthony Bodanza, Charlestown, MD; and Jonathan S. Bodanza husband of Shirley Bodanza, Sinking Spring; the loving grandmother to grandchildren, Michele L. MacIntosh; Lindsay M. Bodanza; Stephanie A. Fulk; and Opal Dominque Bodanza; and six great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 28th, at 4:00pm in Trinity Lutheran Church, Wernersville, with Rev. Lee A. Diefenderfer officiating.
