Joshua George Washington Bly was born on June 19, 1942 in Norfolk County (now Chesapeake), Virginia. He was the fifth child of eight children born to Rufus Reese and Lillie Mae Cuffe Bly. George received his education in Bells Mill Elementry and Crestwood High Schools. At an Early age he professed his faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and became a member of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, where he served on the Usher Board.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Lillie Mae Brown. To this union was 3 children: Natalie, George, and Renee. Goerge was a Brick Mason. He was co-owner of Bly and Bly Masonry.
