On June 17, 1983, Jerry married Beverly Gay Honey, and together they had two beautiful children, Jerry II and Jessie. He loved them all so very much, and was incredibly proud of his children and their accomplishments.
Jerry enjoyed a great many things in life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Of those things, he loved to be at deer camp and run trotlines. Jerry had many professions throughout his life, but the two things he enjoyed the most was trucking and automobiles. From the time he was old enough to drive throughout the remainder of his life he was endowed with a fascination for automobiles. He was interested in all kinds; old, new, wrecked, or work in progress, and he never saw a car that he didn’t see its true potential.
Above everything, Jerry loved his friends and family and exemplified this every day in his actions and words. The love he had for the people in his life was unparalleled and inextinguishable. For those who knew Jerry, his charismatic demeanor could win over a room full of people immediately and it is truly safe to say that Jerry never met a stranger. Jerry’s immense amount of love and charisma should be celebrated and remembered to serve as an example to us all.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Eugene Tharp; and his nephew, James “Gene” Tharp.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Beverly Gay (Honey) Tharp of the home; his children, Jerry Alan Tharp, II, and wife, Brittney of Jonesboro, and Jessie Paige Tippitt and husband, Skyler, of Strong; his mother, Pauline (Hall) Lamer of Newport; one brother, James “Gene” Tharp and wife, Robin, of Monette, his niece and nephew, Misty Golden and husband, Scott and Zac Tharp, two great-nieces nad one great-nephew; several sisters-in-law and their spouses and children; one brother-in-law and children; and a host of friends.
