Born May 22, 1936, in Carbondale, daughter of the late Floyd and Lillian Yarrington Arnold, Dorothy was a retired seamstress, having worked at Waymart Knitwear for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Church to the Nations. Dorothy enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles and was an avid collector of teddy bears. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and she received so much joy from her great-grandson.
She is survived by two sons, Benny Shaffer and wife, Paula, Beach Lake; and Kirk Shaffer, West Warwick, R.I.; two daughters, Crystal Shaffer, Newfoundland; and Penny Jaggars and husband, Barry, Waymart; four grandchildren, Jennifer Bartlebaugh, Dannielle Jaggars; Brandi Smith and husband, Eric; and Michael Shaffer; a great-grandson, Derek Bartlebaugh; a sister-in-law, Delores Shaffer, Houston, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by four siblings, Wallace, Mortimer, Ruth and Flora.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 89 Farview St., Carbondale, with the Rev. Clarence Spencer and Pastor Barry Jaggars, officiating. Interment, Avoy Cemetery, Lake Ariel.
