Barbara Elaine Bowers Ahl, 74, West Columbia, SC (originally of Newberry, SC), passed away September 25, 2017, peacefully in her sleep. She was born to the late Edna Rollins and Thurmond L. Bowers. She was a sister to the late Peggy Bowers Geiger also of Newberry.
Barbara graduated Newberry High School 1961 before she attended Columbia School for Surgical Technicians at Baptist Hospital where she worked and earned her Operating Room Nursing Training in 1963. She moved her family to Marietta, GA where she continued her education at Kennesaw Junior(et.al. State) College. There she earned an A.S. in Nursing 1974 and become a R.N. She later attended the University of South Carolina where she proudly earned her B.A. degree 1986.
Barbara is survived by her only child Dawn M. Ahl. She also leaves behind a lot of caring relatives and friends. Her daughter wishes to thank all of those who cared for her over the past many years. Because Barbara was a liver transplant recipient of 25 years you can celebrate her life by donating your organs to SC Organ Procurement Agency (SCOPA) or your local animal shelter in her honor.
