Tommy Johnson, Jr. 66, of Battle Creek died at his home on Saturday, February 18, 2017.

He was born August 7, 1950 in Wharncliffe, West Virginia to Tommy and Janice L. (Murphy) Johnson, Sr.

He grew up in Wharncliffe and attended Gilbert High School. Tommy proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and fought in the Vietnam War.

Tommy was formerly married to the former Kathy L. (Callaway); and Linda G. (Kettle) Clothier Johnson, who survivies and with whom he made his home. Also surviving are three daughters, Melissa G. Robles and Linda Y. New both of Portage, Indiana, Christina L. Lewis of Battle Creek, Michigan; three stepchildren, Michael Clothier, Scott Clothier, Gwen Baldwin; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Johnson.

Tommy enjoyed motorcycles and fast, pretty cars. His cars were his pride and joy and he washed and cared for them accordingly. Tommy loved his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To know Tommy was to love Tommy. He will be remembered as a loving, caring companion, father, grandpa, friend and provider.

Tommy's family is having an open house at 71 East Avenue South from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017, to share stories about Tommy and celebrate his life.
