Thelma Wright OAKLAND Thelma May Wright, 70, of Oakland, IL, formerly of Ashmore, IL, went to be with the Lord at 7:10 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2002 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2002 at the Antioch Baptist Church north of Oakland, IL Rev. Justin Grimes will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002 at the Edwards Funeral Home 221 E. Main St., Arcola, IL and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.

Thelma was born May 4, 1932 in Paris, IL. She was a daughter of Samuel and Dora (Beasley) Cunningham. She married Stanley E. Wright on September 29, 1951 in Paris, he passes away March 19, 1986. Survivors include three sons, Robert Wright and his wife Mary of Greenup, IL, Jeff Wright and his wife Zail of Arcola, IL and Harold Wright and his wife Joyce of Ashmore, IL; one daughter, Linda Cox and her husband Steve of Oakland, IL; 13 grandchildren, Shane Wright and Curtis Wright both of Midland, MI; Christopher Wright of Greenup, IL, Jennifer Wright of Charleston, IL, Willie Kite, Autumn Wright, Randy Wright and Amber Wright all of Arcola, IL; Brian Stice of Charleston, IL, Kyle Wright of Ashmore, IL; Kara Cox, Jordan Cox and Bonnie Cox all of Oakland. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Cunningham and his wife Wilma of Charleston, IL; three sisters Neva Deming of" Riverton, IL, Teal Leonard of Ashmore, IL and Joan Comstock and her husband Tony of Ashmore, IL; one daughter-in-law, Lillian Wright of Midland, MI. Her parents, her husband, and two sons, Timothy Wright and Stanley (Butch) Wright; and three brothers, Ernie, Sam and Ray Cunningham preceded her in death.

Thelma was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Thelma enjoyed traveling with her sisters. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church.
