Michael Kunkel, age 62, of Lee’s Summit, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit.
A memorial mass will be Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Brookfield. A private burial will be in the woods that he loved. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Michael John, son of John and Elsie (Wolfskill) Kunkel, was born August 15, 1955, in Brookfield. On May 22, 1976, he married Tammy Witte.
Michael was a 1973 graduate of Brookfield High School. He went on to study at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville (now Truman State University) where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Michael was semi-retired from the plumbing industry where he worked as a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Kunkel of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Jayme and Floyd Spray of Brookfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Madison Kunkel of Kansas City; two granddaughters, Amanda Strickland of Brookfield and Kennedy Kunkel of Kansas City; four sisters, Paula Carter and husband, Tom of Kansas City, Patti Knorr of St. Joseph, Lisa Robb of Brookfield, and Amy Jenkins and husband, Patrick of St. Joseph; one brother, Bret Kunkel of Linneus; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Witte of Brookfield; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sherry Enyeart of Camden Point; brother-in-law, Kevin Witte of Brookfield; one uncle, Leroy and wife, Billie Lou Kunkel of Trimble; one aunt, Georgia Burstert of Brookfield; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
His parents preceded him in death.
