Richard J. Warns, 73, of Temperance, MI, passed away, Monday, September 18, 2017, at Flower Hospital.

Richard was an Electrician, a member of Local 8 IBEW for more than 50 years, retiring in 2006. The IBEW was his family, and his family's family. Dick joined his brothers as an apprentice, and his dad, a journeyman at local 8. They worked out their years from apprentice to journeymen, and finally to union reps and organizers. The union was always there for them and they were always there as part of the union. Unions and labor rights were always important to him.

Dick loved nature. Being out of doors, identifying birds, and watching all of the interactions of the natural world was his joy. He knew all of the constellations and would share them with his children and grandchildren. Dick found his faith later in life, treating his search for it as if it were a scientific endeavor: gathering a great deal of evidence to lead him to a huge commitment to his faith in God and his love for humanity. He loved all, no matter who they were.

He is survived by his daughter Rachel Warns; son Richard L. (Maria) Warns; grandchildren Brie, Chris, and John; sister Mary Lou (Harvey) Brannigan; and brothers Ronald (Mary) and Robert (Terry) Warns.

Friends may call at the Northpoint Church of the Nazarene, 5825 Suder Ave, Toledo, Monday, September 25th from 4 – 8 PM. where the Funeral Ceremony will be conducted by Reverend Donna Ebanks, Tuesday at 11 AM.
