Obituary from the Fairbanks, Alaska "Daily News-Miner" newspaper, dated Wednesday, September 4, 2013, page A-7:

Longtime Fairbanks resident Carol Brewer passed away peacefully among family on Aug. 21, 2013, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, at age 71. She was born Nov. 15, 1942, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, to Herbert Edward Cullen and Mabel Beatrice Fischer.

Carol married Percy G. Brewer on Dec. 12, 1961, in Vernon, British Columbia. Carol and her husband Percy lived in Leavenworth, Wash., until 1981 when they decided to start a new adventure and move to Fairbanks. She worked in the customer service industry for the last 20 years, including the school district, Sam's Sourdough Café, Sam's Club and finally a home daycare.

Carol loved sewing costumes for her kids as well as knitting hats, scarves and mittens and big dinners with the family. Never to marry again, she felt accomplished and proud that she raised her remaining three children by herself after losing her husband in 1988. (Editor Note: his actual year of death was 1987). She will be missed by many friends and family.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Brewer, Juanita Brewer, Antoinette (Toni) Brewer, of Fairbanks; Percy Brewer, of Anchorage; Brandon Brewer, of Sioux City, S.D.; and grandchildren, Dominique Tesoriero and Chloe Brewer.

She was preceded in death by Percy, her best friend and loving husband of 27 years. A celebration of life potlach will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Goldstream Valley Lions Club, 2591A Goldstream Road, in Fairbanks. At her request, her ashes will be combined with her late husbands and they will be spread at a later date. All cards and flowers can be sent to J. Brewer, 3350 Thomas St., No. 70, Fairbanks, AK 99709.
