Dr. Mullendore was the son of Rev. George Decatur Mullendore and Blanche McVay Mullendore. Dr. Mullendore received his B.S. degree from Mississippi State University. While serving in the U.S. Army, he attended the University of Mississippi Medical School before transferring to the University of Tennessee School of Medicine to complete his studies. He relocated to Sheffield, Alabama in 1948 to serve as the resident physician for Reynolds Metals Company. Later, he began private practice in Sheffield and specialized in surgery, obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Mullendore was a member of the American Medical Association, the Colbert County Medical Association, the Sheffield Lions Club and was active in the Masons and Shriners organizations, where he received recognition for 50 years of service. He supported numerous charities with a desire to better the lives of people in the local community. He passed away at Sheffield's Helen Keller Hospital, which was the same hospital where he practiced medicine for many years.
