He was the son of John and Nancy Sinclair. He married Elizabeth Wilkinson on March 5, 1868 in Robeson County, N.C.

He enlisted into Company C, 1st Battalion Heavy Artillery, Reg. N.C. Troops on February 1, 1863. He was discharged near the close of the war.

Died after 1910. Was living with the Zachariah Brooks family near Pembroke, North Carolina. Possibly buried in Harper Ferry Church/Deep Branch Road area in Pembroke.
