Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company I, 71st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on Une 5, 1861. He was wounded in the side and and killed in action repulsing Pickett's Charge during Third Day of the July 1863 Battle of Gettysburg.

First buried in the east of of Gettysburg's Evergreen Cemetery, he was re-interred in Laurel Hill Cemetery on July 5, 1864.

He was the son of Evan and Margaret Edwards.


Buried in the same space as Florence G. Hogan in Section 3, Lot 69.
