A child is borne unto this earth with soft red ears and elongated girth. His first three years filled with strife, the owners he had said end his life. An angel was watching to save his soul. A family awaited for him to go. It was love at first sight in Mama's arms, on Daddy he worked his endearing charms. The fence put up and all in place, home he arrived with his sweet face. Not a peep nor sound did we hear, he had no voice we did fear. But then a bark, a glorious sound, full and deep with resound. A fighter, protector, a very best friend, we have loved him over and over again. A special child he's been, it's true, he's taught us much all the years through. Patience, kindness, forgiveness and love, how to put our hearts over and above mindless chatter that doesn't matter. What does matter? Our soul, our connection to Mother Earth, the devotion of brown eyes looking at you with unconditional love. Sharing the gift of touch, simply being present, hanging out and listening with no judgment. Trust and willingness to start each new day fresh and begin again. The beauty of life lives in this red beast, this beautiful creature from the Animal Kingdom. He is a wolf. He stands ready to face any challenge with guts and bravery. He is undefeated, for his gentle spirit knows no boundaries. He is love, he is light, he is spirit. God bless his heart and soul. Angels carry him along on his way. -Poem by Mrs. John Griffith
