Wife of W.T. Townsley

Came to Cowley County, Kansas in 1871 with her husband and children, Fred, Clara and Willie; was a charter member of Pleasant Vale Baptist Church, The first church organized here and was the first person buried in this hallowed ground which was donated by William Mercer. Mrs. William Mercer, her mother was the first white woman to establish a house in this community.
