Spc. Augustus J. Vicari, 22, of Broken Arrow, Okla., died July 29 at Paktia, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device. They were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oklahoma Army National Guard, Tulsa, Okla. He is survived by his wife, Holly, parents, Michael and Evelyn of Lowell, Holly's parents, Charles "Chip" (Tori) Peters, Broken Arrow, OK and Sheila Howerton, Westville, IN. Siblings, Joseph, Michael, Emily and Mollie. Grandmother, Linda Slankard and Great Grandmothers, Berniece Slankard and Shirley Peterson. Aunts and Uncles, Rosemary Vicari, Vicki Vicari, Nancy Spielman, Jim and Kallye Anderson. Nephews, Joseph Jr. William Vicari and cousins, Nathan Wornhoff, Seth and Kersten Anderson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Michael Vicari, Sr., James and Carol Anderson and uncle, Russell Vicari.
