~~~Flora Amelia was the last daughter and ninth child born to Charles George Ross and his Ojibwa/French wife Isabella Milvile/Mainville.
~~~She was only 2 when her father, a Hudson's Bay Co. Chief Trader in charge at Fort Victoria, died a painful death from Appendicitis. Her oldest brother John took his mother, pregnant with her 10th child, and his younger siblings to Fort Nisqually in the Washington Territory. When her mother was granted letters of administration to her husbands estate Flora moved back to Victoria.
~~~Flora married Paul Kinsey Hubbs jr on the 3rd of Dec 1859. They had a boy child and named him Paul Kinsey Hubbs III. Flora divorced from Paul and had the childs name changed to Charles Ross jr.
~~~She was the Matron at St Anne's convent in Victoria, this is where her mother Isabella died in 1885. Flora signed her mother's death certificate. Flora was transfered to New Westminster where she was the matron at Woodlands Asylum. She is noted as being a pioneer in humane mental health care.

Gravesite Details

Looking uphill between trees from the side yard of 337 Strand Street, the distinctive cross is easy to spot.
