Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he served as a Corporal in the Bengal Artillery, Bengal Army. During relief efforts at Lucknow, India, on June 19, 1858, Corporal Parks manning his battery, showed most prestigious gallantry in the face of the enemy and was killed in action. He was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross on December 24, 1858.
