Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in St. Neots, England, he served as a Sergeant Major in the 37th Bengal Native Infantry, Bengal Army. At Benares, India, on June 4, 1857, Sergeant Major Rosamund, along with two others, volunteered to rescue the Pension Paymaster Captain Brown and his family. At great risk, he went in the compound of the family's bungalow that was surrounded by rebels and succeeded in the rescue. For daring gallantry, he was awarded the Victoria Cross on August 24, 1858. He later achieved the rank of Lieutenant, but died on board ship and was buried in the Red Sea at the age of 43.
