World War I Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. In the First World War, he served as a Captain in the 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers. On November 30, 1917, at Les Rues Vertes, France, his brigade headquarters was attacked and captured by German forces. Captain Gee, being a prisoner, managed to escape and organized a party of the brigade staff to attack the enemy. After clearing the locality and established a defensive flank, he noticed a enemy machine-gun still in action. With a revolver in each hand he rushed forward, captured the gun and killed eight of the crew. He was wounded, but would not have the wound dressed until the engagement was over. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal at Buckingham Palace on June 26, 1920.
