Russian cosmonaut. Known for having participated in the space missions Soyuz T-7, Soyuz T-8, Soyuz TM-8, and Soyuz TM-17. Graduated in Physics at the University of Moscow, in 1978 he was selected as a cosmonaut of the Soviet Air Force. He was honored with numerous awards including the Title of Hero of the Soviet Union, Title of Pilot-Cosmonaut of the USSR, two Orders of Lenin, Medal "For Merit in Space Exploration" and Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur. Serebrov died at the age of sixty-nine.
