Staff Sgt. Paul S. Pabla of Fort Wayne, Indiana was a 2000 graduate of Huntington North High School where he was active in Campus Life and the College Park Church Youth Group and participated in a short-term missions work tour to Honduras. He also attended Ball State University. He was soft-spoken but very goal-oriented, and he had a really good sense of humor. Pabla enlisted in the National Guard in November 1999, during his senior year at Huntington. He enjoyed running, cycling, music and photography and he had a special interest in learning to speak numerous foreign languages. He was born to Sarvjit S. and Lisa A. Pabla. Survivors include his mother, Lisa A. Carroll; a brother, Neil; his father Sarvjit Pabla, stepmother Tish, and half-brother Nicholas; his maternal grandmother, Natalie Carroll; his paternal grandparents, Sansar and Gurcharn Pabla. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Theron Carroll. He was 23.
