Shawn grew up in San Leandro & San Lorenzo, played basketball at Bishop O'Dowd High and earned a Criminal Justice BA at CSU Hayward.
Between stops on his Amtrak engineer route, he met Judy Machado at Dagny's in 2004. They were married in spring, 2007 and spent time adventuring and rooting for his Oakland sports teams.
Shawn is survived by wife Judy McLauchlin; son Alex Funk; daughter Erica Landis and her daughters Isis Joyce, Hanna & Desolina Dahlke; father Mervin McLauchlin; mother Elizabeth Bowers; brothers Mike, Brian, and Tim.
