Olympic Medalist for Jamaica. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, he was a University of Southern California sprinter (1967 to 1969) and graduate who also was an Olympic sprinter for Jamaica winning an Olympic silver medal in 1968 and a bronze medal in 1972 in the 100-meter dash. While at USC, his sprint team set a world record on June 17, 1967, in the 440-yard relay with a time of 38.6 seconds at the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. track and field meet at Provo, Utah. Miller's team, which included O.J. Simpson, finished about 15 yards ahead of the runners-up and the record still stands today. Miller holds the USC record for the 100-yard dash at 9.2 seconds. He graduated from USC's dentistry school and practiced in Pasadena for 30 years. In 1996 coached his daughter, Inger, and her U.S. women's 400-meter relay team to a gold medal the 1996 Atlanta Games becoming the first and only father and daughter to receive an Olympic gold medal in the same event and year.
