Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on August 10, 1861, and was mustered in as a Private in Company F on August 23, 1861 (New Jersey Adjutant General records list his name as "Major McGlaskey"). He was found to have deserted on October 4, 1862. He was returned to duty on March 10, 1863, and deserted again on May 4, 1863, at Aquia Creek, Virginia.
