Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company A, 1st New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on August 5, 1861. He re-enlisted on December 27, 1863, was promoted to Sergeant on November 1., 1864, and was honorably mustered out on July 24, 1865.

He filed for a US Army Invalid Pension on February 8, 1872 (Application #172367, Certificate #118008).

On June 1, 1920 his wife, Hannah Croasdale, filed for a US Army Widow's Pension (Application #1158463, Certificate #897170).
