Civil War Union Army Officer. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on June 13, 1861, and was mustered into Company A, 3rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. On January 6, 1862 he was promoted to 1st Lieutentant, and on September 4, 1862 he was transferred to Company D and promoted to Captain and commander of the unit, filling the vacancy caused when Captain Franklin L. Knight was trabbed to be the Lieutenant Colonel of the newly-raised 9-month enlistment regiment 24th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. He led Company D through the next two years, seeing action in Battles such as South Mountain, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, The Wilderness and Spotsylvania. He was honorably mustered out on June 23, 1864 upon the expration of his enlistment.
He was the son of Charles Wilson and Mary Bickford Wilson
