Charles Julian "Chuck" Banfield, 86, of Atlantic City, passed away at home after a lengthy illness.

Charles attended Union Baptist Temple as a child. He attended the Atlantic City public schools before being drafted in to the Army Air Force during WWII in 1944.

After being honorably discharged, he married Bessie Lee Scott, which unto their union four children were born.

Charles was employed by Abbott's Dairy until its closure, Ike's Corner, Big C's Bar, and the Crillon Hotel. He was lastly employed by Atlantic Cape Community College for 20 years before retiring in 1996. He was an avid walker of the Atlantic City Boardwalk and being a patron of the local casinos.

In addition to his parents, Samuel Nathaniel and Daisy Banfield, he was predeceased by his brothers, Lionel, Wilbert, Leroy and Sylvester; his sisters, Viola Burney and Leotta B. Manning; his son, Scott Eugene; and his daughter, Jodi Banfield.

Surviving Charles are his spouse, his children and his grandson, of Maryland.

Services at Union Baptist Temple, Pennsylvania and Drexel Avenues, Atlantic City. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
