David Henry Dendler
1942 - 2017

Early Life: David was born April 14, 1942, in Redwood City, California, to Walter Bryon Dendler and Rose Eulalia Stewart Dendler. He was the oldest child of three born to this family. Both younger brothers, Walter Bryon and Walter Lee, died in infancy. He weighed only three pounds at birth. At a very young age, David faced some really hard challenges. His young mother developed cancer and passed away March 28, 1952, when he was only ten years old. His dad married Virginia Trimble shortly after and with his new bride left California, and moved back to Pennsylvania without David as Virginia didn't want to raise him. Walt and Virginia had another child, Twina Dendler, born in California. His dad never communicated this to him and made no contact with him through the years until after David married Karen. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, David F. "Dave" Whetstone and Daisy Doris Stewart Whetstone, his mother's sister. David learned how to work at a very young age. He earned money working and keeping up various yards in his neighborhood. By doing so. he gained a lot of knowledge of various plants, trees, shrubs and flowers.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: David met his wife, Karen, in New Zealand, serving missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Karen was in the mission home at the time he first arrived in New Zealand. The first Sunday Karen attended church after moving to Redwood City, California, was David's first Sunday home from the mission field. Three months later, they were married January 19, 1969, in the Salt Lake Temple. David wanted to become a doctor. He started school, learned the material, but had great difficulty passing the test. Later, he started to work at Lockheed a missile plant in Sunnyvale, California, holding different positions in the company. David Henry Dendler passed from this life February 16, 2017.
